Nau mai, haere mai ki Horoeka Haemata!

We are so excited to have you and your whānau join us at Rolleston College Horoeka Haemata. The transitions team have thoroughly enjoyed meeting your child at their year 8 interview, or at their primary school during visits.

We are sure your child will be now really looking forward to the next set of transition events as their time at primary school is coming to a close.

Transition events allow you and your child to become familiar with our school and meet key staff who will support them at various stages in their journey at Rolleston College.

Upcoming events

Tuesday 9 December 2025: Year 8 welcome morning

Learners should arrive between 8:20am and 8:40am, wearing their primary school uniform.

Learners must register at our main reception.

Once registered, all year 8 learners will gather in the plaza in preparation for the mihi whakatau.

Mihi whakatau (formal welcome)

We warmly invite whānau/parents and/or caregivers to attend the mihi whakatau.

Following the mihi whakatau, we will share kai/food in CAF1.

Family members who attend the mihi whakatau are welcome to head home afterwards, leaving the learners to continue with welcome activities.

We look forward to welcoming our new year 8 learners and their whānau!

The day for new learners will wrap up at midday.

Monday 2 February 2026: First day of school for all learners

We will provide more detail about this day in due course.

Course selection

Choosing Selected courses is an exciting opportunity for your child to explore their interests and expand their knowledge.

Please read this document to understand the course selection process, learn about course options and follow the steps to select year 9 courses for 2026.

Please complete course selection by Wednesday 3 December 2025.

We encourage you to talk to your child and remember that this is an opportunity to learn across a wide range of areas so, it does not define their post-school life. By considering passions, seeking guidance, finding a balance, and being open to new experiences, they can make informed choices that will make the next step of their learning journey enjoyable and fulfilling. Remember, it's all about discovering interests and enjoying the learning process along the way!

Uniform

We have recently refreshed our school uniform, following a full consultation process. We are excited to introduce a uniform that gives our learners more choice, enhanced comfort, and a stronger sense of identity, while promoting unity across both campuses.

Find out more about the refreshed uniform on our website, and buy the items your learner is most comfortable in from NZ Uniforms, online or at 455 Blenheim Road.
