Tēnā koutou Year 12 learners and whānau,

Nau mai, haere mai, welcome to Rolleston College for 2026. We are excited to welcome back all returning learners and welcome our new learners to Rolleston College Horoeka Haemata. We hope that learners and their whānau have enjoyed a restful break over the summer and are feeling excited about the year ahead.

First Day

All Year 12 and 13 learners need to be at the Senior Campus on Monday 2 February 2026 for an 8.50am start (learners are encouraged to arrive from 8.30am) and meet on the Courts (there will be staff there to help direct learners where to go).

Learners are required to be in full uniform and bring their device and general stationery.

Learners will be welcomed onto the Senior Campus with a Mihi whakatau and then participate in the official opening before heading to their Advisory classes for the rest of the day.  Full timetabled classes begin on Tuesday 3rd February 2026

Regular Timings for the School Day

Timings for the school day have changed for 2026, so we finish 10 minutes later each day.

Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri are 8:50am - 3:10pm

Wed classes are 9:15am - 2:20pm.

The late start allows for staff professional learning and the early finish allows for learners to take part in the School Sport Canterbury after-school competition.

Full timings for each day are available on our website www.rollestoncollege.nz

Timetable & Course Changes
Please read the following information carefully.

Step One - If you have decided not to return to Rolleston College in 2026, a parent/guardian needs to email Mrs Hoy bronwyn.hoy@rollestoncollege.nz as soon as possible. We will check if a Leaver’s Form has been completed and will be in contact if further steps need to be taken.

If you are returning to school, please continue the steps below.

Step Two - View your timetable using https://rolleston.bridge.school.nz/.If you have any gaps or wish to make minor changes, you should continue with the steps below.  If you are happy with your subjects and your subject list is complete, you do not need to do anything further.

Step Three -Review your examination results on NZQA or on SchoolPoint.  Consider if you need to make minor changes based on your results.  Please note, however, not all course changes and subject options requested by students and parents may be possible due to our timetabling, staffing and resource planning.

If Year 12 learners wish to request a change to their timetable, they need to come into school on Thursday, 29th January to the Junior Campus and meet in the Cafe.

In order to ensure a smooth process, learners are required to make a booking using this link & will be seen by one of our Pastoral Team or Senior Leadership Team.  Learners unable to attend at this time should complete this form with their request.

If learners need career guidance or general advice, you can also contact Careers careers@rollestoncollege.nz

Uniform

We’re excited to introduce a refreshed uniform that gives our learners more choice, enhanced comfort, and a stronger sense of identity, reflecting who we are as we step confidently into the future as a two-campus school. The tidy wearing of the Rolleston College Horoeka Haemata uniform is a compulsory aspect of school attendance. 2026 is a transitional year for the uniform as we move to a full refreshed uniform in 2027.

Refreshed uniform items are available from the NZ Uniforms online shop or in store at 455 Blenheim Road, Christchurch.

We encourage all uniform items to be clearly named so they can be easily returned if misplaced.

For more information about our uniform, visit our website.

Stationery

Stationery requirements can be found online on our OfficeMax MySchool website.

SchoolBridge

Please download our app using the QR code below or visit the website here. The app is our main source of accessing and distributing information, and it makes reporting absences, tracking attendance and academic progress easy! On the app, you can also see upcoming events, school notices and more. New enrolments will have access to SchoolBridge at the start of the academic year.

Ensure your notifications are turned ON.

Transport to school

We strongly encourage learners to walk, scooter, or bike to the Senior Campus. There is also a public bus that has a route through Rolleston, and of course, many senior learners may also wish to drive their own car (please follow the rules that apply to their license). There will be no on-site parking for learners at the Senior Campus; this is reserved for staff and visitors only.  Learners taking a car to school can park on the road, being mindful of residents who live in the area, ensuring access to houses is kept clear and not parking where there are yellow lines.  Learners living 4.8 kilometers or more from school may be eligible for school transport through Ministry of Education buses. Some learners on the Senior Campus who were previously ineligible for a bus may now be eligible due to the additional distance. We will make contact next week with those learners.  Our bus co-ordinator returns to school on Monday, 26th January, and can be reached at jenny.walker@rollestoncollege.nz

Additionally, you are able to make contact with the Ministry of Education Transport division directly school.transport@education.govt.nz. Public bus information can be accessed through the metro transport site https://www.metroinfo.co.nz/timetables/Canteen

Learners will be able to pre-order food from our canteen, for break times via the School Bridge App or site. They will have access to a range of hot and cold food items. Check the app for full details.

Health and Safety

To uphold duty of care and ensure the safety of all learners:

  • On-Site Requirement: All learners must remain on-site during school hours. This ensures that in the event of an emergency or evacuation, every student can be accurately accounted for.
  • Sign-Out Procedures: If a learner must leave for a scheduled appointment, they are required to sign out at Student Services and provide parental/guardian verification.
  • SDL Blocks: Year 12 learners must remain on-site for their SDL blocks to ensure access to staff support and supervision. Year 13s may leave the site during this specific block only.
  • Vehicle Safety: For supervision and safety reasons, learners are not permitted to sit in parked cars during breaks.

We appreciate your support in ensuring learners are well prepared for the year ahead. He kākano i ruia mai i rangiatea; the seed shall not be lost.

Ngā mihi nui,

Rachel Skelton - Principal
