Principal's pānui

Kia ora e te whānau!

It has been another action packed week here at Horoeka Haemata. This week we had the Education Review Office visit the school to write their concluding report. ERO’s new approach to evaluation, Te Ara Huarau, supports each school’s improvement over time.

Key features include:

  • working with all schools in an ongoing way rather than as a one-off event
  • connecting with each school’s strategic planning and reporting cycle as part of their improvement journey
  • working in partnership with schools, collaborating in support of equitable and excellent outcomes for all learners.

Each school will:

  • have a dedicated ERO Review Officer (Evaluation Partner) who works alongside the school
  • have a different experience depending on needs, strengths, and their school’s specific evaluation focus
  • be on a three-year evaluation cycle.

We are pleased with the report that will hopefully be published early in term two in all areas audited – school improvement, compliance and provision for international learners. It was a very rewarding experience to be able to share the hard work done by our staff, learners and Board of Trustees to create the high achieving and caring culture that we associate with our college. One of the key tools used is the school improvement framework where schools are asked to produce evidence of performance against the ten domains of the school improvement framework. It was a great opportunity to showcase to ERO the great things that happen here.

We wish all of our school community a safe and happy Easter break and look forward to seeing all of our learners back on Wednesday.

Take care

Rachel
