Building and property updates

At the end of 2024 we opened our extension and we are excited to use this state-of-the-art space from January. Our visual art, textiles, student services, digital technology departments, and Ngahuru whānau have moved into the new extension.

There is a new school map available to help learners navigate their way through the new building. The extension also provides a student services desk which allows learners to access the office, our nursing team, the whānau, Ako and Advisory leaders, sports department, and Billy and Tii without having to wait at the front desk.

Another change on campus this year is the removal of B block. This is the block of temporary classrooms that has been in the carpark, currently being moved offsite. This will be completed soon. To ensure everyone’s safety, we ask that learners (who do not use the bus) and whānau enter the school grounds via the Springston Rolleston Road or Goulds Road entrances to the school when coming onsite at the start of the year, to avoid the construction area. Learners will notice some new bike racks have been installed on Goulds Road.

Our second Rolleston College campus, located on the corner of Springston Rolleston Road and Selwyn Road, is on track for opening in 2026 and we will keep you posted with updates through the Lancewood pānui and our website.

Ready to Learn (R2L): Expectations for uniform

At Rolleston College, we appreciate the importance of a school uniform and its ability to instil a sense of community identity and school pride.

Learners are expected to take pride in the presentation of their uniform. Correct uniform is expected in the following contexts:

  • School uniform should be worn when traveling between home and school, while at school and when representing the college at functions away from school.
  • Learners will be checked regularly for correct and full uniform.
  • If any part of the uniform cannot be worn correctly, a note explaining the matter should be given to the whānau leadership team, and a replacement uniform may be issued on the day concerned.
  • We encourage all uniform items to be clearly named so they can be easily returned if misplaced.

Uniform can be purchased from the NZ Uniforms store at 455 Blenheim Road or online.

If there is a case for financial hardship regarding uniform, please reach out so we can assist.

Change to start time

The school day will start at 9:15am on Wednesdays. This is to facilitate additional professional learning time as we prepare to transition to our new campus in 2026. We will finish at 2:10pm.

The new Wednesday timetable is as follows:

Block 1: 9:15am to 10:15am
Block 2: 10:20am to 11:20am
Interval: 11:20am to 11:40am
Block 3: 11:40am to 12:40pm
Lunch: 12:40pm to 1:10pm
Block 4: 1:10pm to 2:10pm

School bus timetables from Burnham, Weedons and West Melton have been updated accordingly.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday start and finish times will remain the same.

Transportation

  • School buses

Please contact our bus controller Jane Pidgeon, jane.pidgeon@rollestoncollege.nz if you require information about the school buses. You can find information about the routes and timetables on our website.

Jane will be sending further information to all bus users before the start of the school year.

  • Pick-up and drop-off

As our community grows, there is more traffic on the road and at peak times, especially during the school pick-up and drop-off times. We ask that parents/caregivers do not enter the student car park during this busy time, and we encourage you to use the pick-up/drop-off area at the front of the school.

  • Daytime parking for learners

There is limited onsite parking for learners who drive to school can park in the Springston Rolleston Road car park. Learners must not park in the SDC Park and Ride carpark as this is for people who use the bus service into town. Learners need to collect a permission to bring vehicle to school contract from their Advisory/Ako coach or student services. Learners who drive to school are expected to follow NZTA road rules.

Timetables

Learners can view their 2025 timetable by logging into SchoolPoint. They will also be given copies of their timetables on their first day. Any changes that need to be made, including gaps or requests to change courses, can be made on their welcome day. Please note that timetables are still subject to change. New learners who do not yet have login details can confirm their timetables at their enrolment interview or welcome day.

Stationery

Stationery lists can be found on the OfficeMax MySchool site. We highly recommend clearly naming stationery items as well as your learners; pencil case, device (including power cord/mouse) and all uniform items.

Once again, we are looking forward to welcoming all learners back to school for 2025.

Ngā mihi nui,
