This week we celebrated the announcement of our 2026 student leaders. Leadership at Rolleston College is not about a badge or a title – it is about living E Tū Tāngata: standing tall, respecting others, and lifting those around you. We are proud of every learner who put themselves forward. Congratulations to those appointed, and thank you to all who stood – you have all shown courage and commitment to our kura.
The X-Factor final once again highlighted the incredible creativity and talent of our learners. It was inspiring to see young people stepping onto the stage, sharing their gifts, and being cheered on by their peers. This is the Rolleston Spirit in action – celebrating each other’s successes and embracing the uniqueness of every individual.
I also want to express my gratitude to our families for your patience during the rostering home this term. We know this has placed extra pressures on households, and we deeply appreciate the way our community has supported both learners and staff through this time.
This week has also been Te Wiki o te Reo Māori/Māori Language Week, a reminder of the importance of te reo Māori in shaping our identity and strengthening our connections. As a kura, we continue to grow in our use of te reo and tikanga, and I encourage all of us to carry this commitment beyond this week.
Today we celebrated with our annual school haka competition and had the very difficult job of judging the winner! Congratulations to Ngahuru whānau on the win.
As we head into the holidays, let us continue to live our values, show kindness, and support one another. Term four will bring new challenges and celebrations, and I look forward to seeing everyone return refreshed and ready.
Ngā manaakitanga,
Rachel Skelton
