Winter Tournament Week is a highlight for many learners that get to represent Rolleston College in their chosen passion! This year were able to send ten teams to their respective tournaments and boy did they make us proud!
We had teams travelling to Nelson, Blenheim, Dunedin, Ōamaru, as well as competing locally here in Christchurch.
All of our teams had a fantastic time away, and it could not have happened without our amazing group of volunteers that give their time up so willingly for sport at Rolleston College. A huge thank you goes out to the following people who supported our teams:
Badminton: Pauline van der Wielen
Equestrian: Emily Gameson, Kelly Baker, Connor MacKinnon, Wendy McCarthy
Boys' football: Danny Garvey, Finn Smith, Kim Vargo
Girls' football: Kane Maxwell, David Lewes, Nicola Maxwell
Boys' hockey: Fred Dodson, Rachel Hill, Jess Prior, Garyth Harris
Girls' hockey: Kyle Innes, Gary Casey, Mel Wild, Karen Hoare
Junior boys' basketball: Nick Prouting, Jacqui Roy, Eloise van Velthooven, Nathan Parker
Senior boys' basketball: Connor Page, Cam Drewett, Shane Delahunty, Logan Bradford
Senior A netball: Denise Keno, Te Rina Keno, Ane Tatu, Jason Keno
U15 boys' rugby: Alby Wilson, Leah Meares, Kane Tamou.
Some notable achievements from the week include:
The girls' hockey team finished fourth at their tournament – this is the highest ever finish for this team!
The boys' football team won the plate final at their tournament, securing their first ever piece of silverware!
The junior boys' basketball team finished fifth in their tournament, only losing one game along the way!
The senior A netball team had their best ever finish managing to secure tenth place in the A grade! Hannah Jack was also recognised for playing 100 games for the senior A netball team.
Our badminton team did really well, with Chuong Tran winning the boys' singles cup for year 9-10, and Nathan Nguyen and Jay Wang winning the year 11-13 boys' doubles plate event!
A big thank you to all our learners who were involved this year and we wish our year 13 leavers all the best in continuing their sporting journeys.
