Principal's pānui

Ni sa bula vinaka kece sara,

It has been a fantastic start to term four, with learners and staff returning with real energy and focus. The final term always brings a sense of purpose – finishing strong, celebrating achievements, and looking ahead to what’s next for our learners as they move through the school. This morning we welcomed and acknowledged those brand new to the school over term three and four with a mihi whakatau.

You may have seen recent updates from the PPTA regarding the possibility of further industrial action this term. At this stage, no new actions have been confirmed, but we will keep our community informed as soon as any details are finalised. We know that uncertainty can be challenging for families, and we appreciate your ongoing patience and support as the national negotiations continue. Our priority remains ensuring the least possible disruption to teaching and learning.

Significant progress continues at our senior campus site, with new structures taking shape and a real sense of anticipation building. During the break, the site saw major activity, including further landscaping and interior works. Each milestone brings us closer to welcoming our first group of senior learners onto the new campus in 2026. The sense of excitement among staff and students is palpable – it’s wonderful to see our vision for one school, two campuses coming to life.

During the holidays, Mr Winsloe and I attended the Rolleston Residents Association meeting to share an update on our growth and the development of the second campus. It was heartening to see the strong interest and support from the local community. These conversations remind us that our school sits at the heart of a vibrant and rapidly growing Rolleston – and that our success is a shared one, built on collaboration and trust.

As we move through term four, our focus turns to celebrating achievement, leadership, and service – from prizegivings and performances to farewells and transitions. It’s a busy time, but also one filled with pride and gratitude for the collective effort that makes our school what it is.

Vinaka vakalevu,

Rachel Skelton
Tumuaki/Principal
