Learning Environments
Rolleston College is a modern and future focused school and this is reflected in its design and build. Its design takes into account research on how people best learn and provides the physical environment that best encourages the learning process. The buildings and environment provide flexible spaces and furniture designed to accommodate a variety of learning opportunities and styles. Learners can be grouped in large or small groups as appropriate to the learning context and situation.
The College operates under a public – private partnership (PPP).This means that a private company has built a high quality school with excellent facilities and resources and is responsible for maintaining it. This frees the teaching staff from the burden of looking after large, sophisticated buildings, grounds and facilities and allows them to focus their time and energy on learning.
It has been designed to provide the very best facilities possible whilst ensuring that the learning spaces are very flexible and adaptable. It incorporates small and large spaces for general learning plus specialised areas for physical education and sport, technology and the creative arts. The design of the school will encourage optimal learning.
Technology is a vital tool enabling learners to explore, inquire and connect. It is not the use of the tool that is as important as the way it is used to find the answers to questions and solutions to problems. Technology is an integral component in the learning process at Rolleston College and the vision is to ensure that the appropriate technology is available anywhere and at anytime according to need.
