As we rapidly approach the end of term two, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible dedication, resilience, and hard work of all our senior learners. It has been a busy and productive half of the year, and our students are tracking incredibly well across their subjects.
A massive shout-out goes to our amazing teaching staff for their tireless encouragement and guidance, and a huge thank you to our parents and caregivers for your unwavering support from home. It truly takes a village, and your partnership makes all the difference!
As we head into the second half of the year, it is a great time to review academic goals and make sure we are keeping our eyes on the prize.

Understanding your NCEA goals
To help navigate the upcoming terms, here is a quick reminder of how NCEA tracking works and what our learners should be aiming for:
Aligning with our senior school visions
Every year level at Horoeka Haemata Rolleston College is guided by a distinct vision to ensure our learners are supported through their unique educational journeys. Here is how our current senior themes tie into the focus for the rest of the year:
Year 11: ‘Strive for Success’
Our year 11 learners are currently building upon the foundational habits they developed in junior school and applying them to the formal NCEA qualification process for the very first time. We encourage you all to maintain your inquisitive nature and strive for success. Now is the time to cement strong organisational and study habits, lock in those crucial co-requisites, and target success at Level 1!
Year 12: ‘Academic and Vocational Excellence’
Year 12 is all about fostering individual strengths in more specialised areas. As you dive deeper into your chosen subjects, we challenge you to develop greater independence in your learning. Keep pushing for your personal academic excellence!
Year 13: ‘Career Ready’
To our ultimate senior leaders and role models, you are on the home stretch! The focus for year 13 is on sharpening specialist, independent study skills as you work toward Level 3 and University Entrance. Integrate everything you have learned about yourself over the years and continue aiming for a seamless transition into life beyond school.
Let's finish term two strong, enjoy a well-deserved break, and come back ready to turn these academic visions into reality!
