Relief teachers

Youth worker
Permanent part time (20 hours per week)

Are you passionate about supporting rangatahi/youth on their journey to independence and well-being? Culturally responsive and able to build positive relationships with rangatahi while also setting strong professional boundaries? Fantastic, then this might be the job for you! 

We seek a positive, flexible, and compassionate individual to join our hauora team to provide wrap-around social support to Rolleston College learners and their whānau as required.  Walking alongside rangatahi, you will provide a safe and empowering environment as they navigate personal challenges, helping them engage with their learning, build resilience assisting them in improving life skills, home-whānau relationships, and reducing antisocial behaviour. When required facilitating school-based programmes and liaising with staff and external support services as needed.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Building strong relationships with rangatahi and their whānau to foster trust and rapport.
  • Providing daily support aligned with their goals, support plans, risk management strategies, and safety plans.
  • Collaborating and identifying meaningful goals and offering encouragement and assistance to help them achieve these milestones.
  • Actively participating in team meetings by sharing ideas, providing updates on activities, and contributing to collective success.
  • Ensuring records are accurately documented and reported in a timely manner.

Sports coordinator
Permanent, full time (term time only)

Have a passion for sport, have strong interpersonal skills, are highly organised and know how to make things happen? We are seeking an experienced, passionate and results-oriented sports coordinator to join our team. In this exciting role, you will be key in facilitating and coordinating the delivery of sport, supporting our staff, learners, and coaches while inspiring and motivating learners to reach their full potential. Rolleston College is a well-resourced, co-educational school with a growing roll of more than 1,900 students and 190 staff.

This role supports the teacher in charge of sport and one other sports coordinator with:

  • increasing participation in sport and physical activity

  • enhancing the profile of sport and physical activity within the school and the greater community

  • enhancing student enjoyment and development from sport and physical activity

  • supporting and promoting the safe delivery of sport and physical activity to students

  • encouraging and enabling students to participate at their desired level of sport.

The successful applicant will demonstrate leadership, a passion for youth education through sport and physical activity, excellent organisation and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people. Key tasks will include:

  • Promoting the school's sports programme and strategic plan through effective communication, marketing and administration

  • Scheduling and organisation of sports events, competitions, trips and tournaments

  • Collaborating with coaches, teachers in charge of sports, and staff to develop and implement innovative sports programmes

  • Developing and maintaining pathways for sporting excellence and high-performance

  • Managing and maintaining sports equipment, uniforms, and facilities

  • Modelling and promoting the school's values and learning ethos

  • Other tasks as may be reasonably requested from time to time.

This is a full-time, term-time only position and the successful candidate will be contracted for 37 and a half hours a week, with some flexibility required to accommodate after hours sporting events and activities. Our ideal candidate will have experience working in a school environment and coaching and/or sports management qualifications. Depending on skills, qualifications and experience, this role is banded at Grade 3 to Grade 4 of the Administration Work Matrix within the Support Staff Collective Agreement.

Arts coordinator
Casual (max. 20 hours)

Do you thrive in fast-paced environments and know how to make things happen? We are currently seeking applications for a dynamic and motivated person to support our growing arts community inside and outside the college. 

Helping to create unique experiences, bringing people together, and creating unforgettable experiences for our learners. Our successful candidate will embrace all areas of the arts (performing arts, dance, music, drama, visual arts) in this supporting role that will assist our arts faculty. A background and passion in arts and/or events coordination would be advantageous, as you will ensure the finer details of our arts programme run seamlessly.

Applicants will need to have a learner-centred focus and be excited about working in a collaborative, flexible and responsive learning environment. If you take pride in your work, are committed to excellence and want to be part of growing arts within our community, we’d love to hear from you. 

This is a casual, timesheeted position so some flexibility is required to accommodate both during and after-school arts events and activities. Depending on qualification, skills and experience, this role sits at Grade 2 to 3 of the matrix in the Administration Support Staff Collective Agreement.

Careers advisor
Permanent, part time (term time only)

We are looking for an inspired and passionate person who has excellent knowledge of careers education, information and guidance, note teaching and non-teaching staff can apply. As part of our careers team, you will help grow our school-wide career programmes (curriculum, events and programs) and help support and advise learners on their individual pathways. 

You will form effective professional relationships with students, staff, parents and the community to support the careers team to deliver planned, progressive learning experiences that help students develop career management competencies and transition successfully through school and into further education or work.

Developing self, building communities and transforming futures through the Rolleston Spirit, is at the heart of everything we do at our college. As a professional in this field you will be passionate about both academic and personal success, be able to cultivate a learning community and have a desire to provide a genuine learner-centred education.
