Girls' cricket team wins against Lincoln in friendly

The Rolleston College girls' cricket team played a friendly game against Lincoln High School on Tuesday 27 February.

They had a great win, chasing down 140 in a T20 game at Foster Park in chilly summer conditions.

Massive thanks to Lincoln for coming to play as both teams prepare for the upcoming Gillette Venus Cup in mid-March.

It was a great team effort all round but some individual standouts were:

  • Isabel Hawes with 2 wickets in an over which changed the momentum of the bowling innings;
  • Sophia Brown started the chase well with a well made 36* retired; and
  • Ella Petersen (49) and Morgan Smith (28*) then had a great partnership to bring it home.

Elsewhere, Blake Corbett from the year 9 boys' cricket team scored a well deserved 55 on Saturday against a strong Christ's College team. It was Blake's first 50 for Rolleston College!  Well done Blake!
