Advisory news

This week, we've had a focus on car safety. The learners have been looking into distractions on the road, vulnerable road users, car safety features, drink driving and close call situations.

We also went over the new R2L badge system, where learners are able to apply for their bronze, silver, gold or platinum badges. Each of these comes with different privileges and is an amazing achievement to be able to write about in testimonials and references applications.

The year 13s had two different university presentations from Lincoln and Massey. These were again well attended and we hope that learners have been able to get some perspective around where they would like to study.

Assessments have started and we are having conversations around work/life balance. We encourage learners to reach out if they are finding the workload too much so that we are able to support them. As a caregiver, you can access SchoolBridge and see what assessments are coming up for your learner.

Engagement questions

1. What assessments have you got on right now? When are they due?

2. What assessments do you have coming up?

What's coming up in Advisory

Next week is summer tournament week – we wish all of our learners attending the best of luck!

We're aware that the learners do have a lot of different assessments at the moment so next week will be used as a pause week. This is where learners will have the Advisory lesson to complete any set work they need to either catch up with or continue on with their assessments.

Year 13 university presentations

Are you planning to go to an Australian university studying medicine or dentistry?

If you are considering a career in medicine or dentistry and are planning to apply to medical/dental schools in Australia, you'll need to sit a compulsory entry exam known as the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) ANZ in 2024 before you can apply for relevant placements at most Australian universities

If this is you, then please email rachel.best@rollestoncollege.nz to get more information.
