Just a quick update on the Active As programme to ensure you're in the know.
This initiative aims to encourage our rangatahi to explore activities beyond their comfort zones, fostering a spirit of courage and adventure.
This week our Active As Rangatahi Committee convened. Last week, I issued them a challenge: to craft a logo for our programme. The winning design, displayed above, will adorn our program's prizes.
We decided with the logo that the mountain represents growth, progress and overcoming challenges. The mountain symbolises the journey and development that students go through at Rolleston College. The arrow formation signifies forward movement and advancement and always striving to move forward and achieve goals. It all ties into our school value of Developing Self.
The programme kicks off in week eight of term two; beginning on Monday 17 June, coinciding with our ako classes. The program is aimed at our year 9 and 10 learners. Using the surveys taken last year and discussions with focus groups, I've carefully chosen a variety of options for our rangatahi to select from (with some yet to be confirmed).
Next week, a form will circulate in ako classes, where they'll choose one event to participate in on that day. Here are the choices available:
If you or your whānau have any ideas or are a provider we could potentially work with in term three, I'm all ears! Please feel free to share your suggestions via email to wendy.mccarthy@rollestoncollege.nz.
