Hōtoke and Kōanga whānau get Active As

On Monday 17 June, year 9 and 10 Kōanga learners had their Active As session. This initiative aims to encourage our rangatahi to explore activities beyond their comfort zones, fostering a spirit of courage and adventure.

They got to choose which recreational activity to try, with options including skateboarding and rollerskating, swimming, henna tattoo, hip hop dance, pickleball, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing and more.

The learners had a blast!

Learners from Hōtoke had their turn on Thursday 20 June. We're thrilled to provide them with opportunities to get active in new ways and find new interests!

The Active As student committee have been at each session doing a student voice survey and they have all come back with positive feedback and the students are very excited to do it all again next term.

We're very grateful for the support from external providers like Chloé from Swarm Dance Studios, Ingrid from Phat Sk8, the Cheapskates Skate Skool and of course Selwyn Sports Centre and Selwyn Aquatic Centre.
