What is Tūturu?
Tūturu is a modern, evidence-based approach to student wellbeing, unique to Aotearoa.
Evidence shows that when health services work closely with schools and focus on developing teacher capacity and students’ critical thinking and decision-making, this assists them making healthy choices.
Tūturu is led by the New Zealand Drug Foundation, overseen by the Ministry of Education, Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ), NZ Police, and Te Hiringa Hauora.
What Tūturu has to offer
Tūturu is one of a number of Ministry of Education initiatives that adopts a whole school approach. Under a whole school approach, all members of a school community (such as staff, students, parents, and health providers) play active roles in student wellbeing, ensuring students stay healthy and well and remain at school.

How schools can get involved with Tūturu
Tūturu works with health providers in five areas: Auckland, Waikato, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.
In each region, Tūturu leads work closely with schools, providing training, support, and hosting informational events. Schools can also use individual Tūturu resources independently and receive support when needed.
Tūturu resources are used by of schools around the country and have been widely praised for their engaging and relevant content.
