Pasifika learners shine at speech competition

Continuing our school's recent strong showings at Pasifika speech contests, a group of five learners represented Rolleston College with pride at the annual Aneruieta (Teta) Pao-Sopoanga Pasifika Speech Competition at the University of Canterbury on Tuesday 27 August.

Laisenia Naroyasi won the junior Fijian competition – vakanuinui vinaka!

Salote Matalave was second in the junior Tongan competition – talamonu atu!

Maile Tupou, Lincoln Mumuta and Zaraiah Notoa all received acknowledgements and participation certificates. We are so proud of you all!

As always, huge thank you to our Pasifika studies and language teachers, Mrs. Aneta Matagi and Mr. Viliami Vea, who spend extra time preparing our learners for these competitions and developing strong connections with their heritage.
