Rolleston College at New Zealand Track & Field Championships

The summer of athletics continues for a group of Rolleston College athletes.

At the New Zealand Track & Field Championships—held in Dunedin on 6-9 March 2025—Eli Craig, Taylan Endicott-Davies, Judah Lodoviko, and Conner Woodcock, performed well in a range of events.

Eli Craig, competing in U18, recorded a new high jump PB of 1.76m in finishing sixth against stiff competition. He also finished 18th in the 200m, and was part of Canterbury's U18 4x100m relay team who were fifth.

Taylan Endicott-Davies continues to improve in the hammer throw, with a new PB of 34.84m good for fourth place in the U18 event. Hammer throw is a discipline which has exploded in New Zealand in recent years, thanks to trailblazing athletes like Julia Ratcliffe and Lauren Bruce, and it is especially competitive in the high school age grades.

Judah Lodoviko, fresh off a big weekend at the Canterbury children's championships (and our whānau sports day, where he successfully anchored several Kōanga relays), had some incredible results, winning the U16 boys' 400m with a nifty 51.86s, a sizeable PB. He also joined schoolmate Conner Woodcock in the U16 4x100m relay, winning gold. Judah was also second in the 200m with another PB (23.95s), long jump with 5.69m, and anchored the Canterbury boys' 4x400m relay to a silver.

Conner Woodcock added to his 4x100m gold with fourth place in the U16 triple jump.

Congratulations to these athletes! We now eagerly look towards the upcoming School Sport Canterbury prelims and finals, and the South Island secondary schools championships.
