International students attend jazz concert

Some of our learners recently went to a Nobuya Sugawa performance.

"I went to the saxophone concert with other students who wished to attend," says Mio Shirahama.

"It was a great time. Since we were from different year levels, most of them were people I was meeting for the first time, but everyone was kind and talked to me, so it was really fun.

"The saxophonist was Japanese, which made the experience feel very fresh and new.

"I would like to participate again if there is a similar event in the future."

Asuka Yamamoto also enjoyed herself.

"I went to the saxophone concert of Nobuya Sugawa. The reason why I joined is because I was interested in music and I didn’t want to waste this opportunity.

"First, he played a Japanese song. My Kiwi friend told me that it was a nice song. I learned that music is enjoyed regardless of country.

"At first, I had been hesitant to participate, but I was glad I did. I'll definitely participate again if I have another opportunity like this," she says.
