Cantamath is just around the corner!
Cantamath is an important and exciting part of the school calendar for many learners and teachers. It's an opportunity for our learners to explore the wide world of mathematics and display their mahi to a Canterbury audience.
Each year, there are fresh and new ideas, along with top quality work and careful presentation.
This year's theme is Maths in careers, and it's time to start considering what you would like to enter.
What can you make, what could you write, and most importantly, what issues or topics relating to the theme have significance from a mathematical perspective?

Participants
Cantamath is for students from year 5 to year 10. Schools from across Canterbury participate, making it a significant local event! All maths enthusiasts at Rolleston College are encouraged to get involved – we need seniors to help organise practices and mentor our competitors.
Events
Team competition: Teams of four students compete in a series of problem solving challenges. These are time-constrained and test the students' ability to work collaboratively and think quickly.
Projects and displays: Individual students or groups can submit mathematical projects, which are judged based on creativity, mathematical content, and presentation. These projects are often displayed publicly, providing students with a platform to showcase their work.
Objectives
Encourage mathematical excellence: Cantamath aims to inspire students to develop their mathematical skills and to foster a love for mathematics.
Promote teamwork: The team competition encourages students to work together to solve problems, enhancing their collaborative skills.
Celebrate achievements: By providing a platform for displaying projects, Cantamath celebrates the diverse ways students engage with mathematics.
