Selwyn schools athletics day – Wednesday 7 March

Organised by Selwyn Sports Trust and the four high schools in the district.

Registrations will be available in the coming weeks.

It will be Rolleston College's first athletics day and results (times/distances/heights) will be recorded.

Badminton/table tennis

Badminton/table tennis tournament – Wednesday 3 April, Selwyn Sports Centre

Rolleston College's first badminton and table tennis tournament is open for both staff and learners.

Registrations will be available closer to the time.

Korfball

Senior korfball tournament – Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March, Ngā Puna Wai

Singletracks XC race dates (Halswell Quarry)

Week one: Wednesday 28 February (gradingo n core XC loop)
Week two: Wednesday 6 March (graded XC lap race)
Week three: Wednesday 13 March (graded XC lap race)
Week four: Wednesday 20 March ((graded XC lap race)
Week five: Wednesday 27 March – Canterbury Champs age group lap race (earlier start; 2pm)

There is no transport provided for mountain biking. A Rolleston College staff member will be at each event.

Entries close on EnterNOW at 5pm on Monday 18 February. The cost for the series is $30. Once registered and paid, contact grant.ross@rollestoncollege.nz to let him know which grade you want to enter.

Please enter using EnterNow – there is more work involved in late entries. All entries will be accepted after the closing date, but there is a $5 late fee.

All riders are welcome, from beginners to elites. It's competitive, but fun.

Race information including start times and grades is updated each week on the Singletracks website, and on the Facebook page.

The series needs 10-15 volunteers each week – contact murray@singletrack.org.nz if you can help out.

Softball

South Island softball tournament – Tuesday 19 to Friday 22 March, Christchurch

We will have a girls' team for this tournament. Please email Mr. Ross grant.ross@rollestoncollege.nz before the meeting.

Surfing

Registrations are open now and close on Monday 12 February. The registration form is downloadable from the surfing webpage. Complete it and email to grant.ross@rollestoncollege.nz, or drop off at the sports office (B1).

Winter sports pre-season training and information

Football/soccer

Boys and girls pre-season training started from 3 to 4pm on Monday 5 February; at Selwyn Sports centre football turf.

All year levels welcome.

Netball

Pre-season training is on the school courts.

Seniors: 3:15pm to 4.30pm on Tuesday 13 February.

Juniors: 3:15pm to 4.30pm Thursday 15 February.

• Runs until the week starting 18 March

• No training over trial week.

Trial dates

Senior A and B: 3:30 to 5pm on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 February; school courts.

Year 10s who played Junior A or 9A last year can attend.

Junior A and B: 3:30 to 5pm on Thursday 29 February and Friday 1 March; school courts.

These teams are to play for Rolleston College on Saturdays and Wednesdays. If players are not selected for these teams they can play for school on Wednesdays in the Townsport competition.

Rugby

Our Saturday rugby teams have started to come together for preseason.

We had a good turnout for our Selwyn Schools 1st XV squad. On Waitangi Day we ran testing for the season, getting in some good speed and times. Training for the team is every Tuesday and Thursday at Lincoln High School. For more details, follow the Selwyn Schools 1st XV Facebook page.

Our Rolleston College U15 and U16 teams that play in the Ellesmere competition are having a run around on Wednesdays from 6 to 7pm at our college fields. We had a great first hit out with 40 players showing up. All are welcome and registrations will open at the end of February.
