This season we are switching things up a bit and depending on the number of teams that we get we plan to enter teams in to the following:

Boys: Friday secondary school competition. Fridays after school at a mix of turfs.

Girls: Wednesday secondary school competition. Wednesdays after school at a mix of turfs.

We've decided not to enter the Monday night competition that was held in previous years as we would like to grow our schools hockey development and focus on good, competitive hockey.

Trials

Register with Mrs. Corbett by Sunday 25 February.

Foster Park turf

Monday 4 March

Boys: meet at 3:45pm, ready for 4pm start.

Girls: meet at 4:45pm, ready for 5pm start.

If you're unable to make it to trials, please let us know the reason before Friday 1 March.

Expectations

Please come ready to trial with all of your appropriate hockey gear: NO MOUTHGUARD OR SHIN PADS – NO PLAY!

We're wiping the slate clean and will be watching with intent to select our 2024 teams!

A good attitude with a willingness to learn, great listening skills, respectful manner and the ability to work as part of a team as well as a good level of fitness and skill.

Selection to the First XI is a privilege, and if you make the team you should be very proud to represent your school.

If you're not selected in to the top team, there are still development opportunities and we plan to make your season a good one!

Come along ready to play your best. We want players to play hard to secure their spot in a team.

We hope to have teams named by Friday 8 March.

Training starts on Monday 11 March.

Boys: 3:45pm to 5pm

Girls: 4:45 to 6pm

Pre-season tournament: Wednesday 10 April

Hosted by Rolleston College, with a selection of other secondary schools participating in different winter sport codes – more info to come.

Winter tournament week: Sunday 1 – Saturday 7 September

Girls: Invercargill
