In a clever advertising campaign that played on the value placed on visual arts education in the big American college system, The College for Creative Studies in Detroit leveraged the anti-drug advertising of the time; changing catchphrases and adding visual art-related courses.
One of its most famous tag lines was ‘One in five teenagers will experiment with art’.
This group show brings together four old teenagers who experimented with art and pursued careers teaching art, frustrated by their world full of metric rubrics that sometimes forget to keep it simple and focus on ‘just make epic sh*t!’
Their epic sh*t includes painting, printmaking, and photographic works.
Remember folks, you need to talk to your teenagers about art school!
