Gap year placements still available for early 2026
International volunteer placements are still open in the UK, Spain, Poland, and Canada. It is not too late for a 2026 gap year experience. These roles are ideal for recent school leavers who want meaningful experience before university or work.
Placement: 3–11 months in UK, Spain, Poland, or Canada
Who should apply: recent high school leavers interested in cultural exchange, personal development, and structured overseas experience.

Some highlights:

This isn’t just about growing crops – it’s about growing an industry-leading career. A one-year programme that gets students out of the classroom and into the field, also offered as part-time study off-campus in Nelson and Tauranga. The Diploma in Horticulture is covered under the Lincoln University fee waiver until 2027! Looking for an awesome way to give back to the community in December after school's out? Keen to gain some work experience? Volunteer at the Special Olympics.
The Special Olympics National Summer Games are being held in Christchurch from 10 to14 December 2025 and they need over 650 volunteers to assist at this event.
The minimum age is 16 and the varied volunteer roles include:

Opening ceremony
Photography
Supporting sport
Traffic management
Venue management
