Ready to Learn in term four: week seven

Recognitions

Learners earn recognitions at school for displaying the Rolleston Spirit of Develop Self, Build Communities and Transform Futures. At the end of each term the recognitions are collated and learners who have received certain levels are rewarded.

Rewards for clicks:

  • 10 points: Termly voucher draw

  • 20 points: $5 cafe voucher

  • Top 5 learners: Principal's lunch

Learners can check the number of recognitions they have received through the Schoolbridge app.

Lateness

Getting to school and class on time is an integral part of school as it sets up learners for success in class. Being late to school or class often means that learners miss out on important learning and messages, which impacts their understanding and success in class.

We understand that there can be times when learners are late to school or class for reasons outside of their control. However, we want to minimise the occasions on which this occurs.

Strategies to help with being on time for school include:

  • Learners knowing what classes they have for the day

  • Learners packing their bags the night before

  • Learners making sure their uniform is ready for school the next day

  • Learners setting an alarm in the morning that will give them time to have breakfast, get dressed and travel to school in time for the start of the school day

  • With the increase in traffic in Rolleston, learners travelling by car need to allow more time in the morning for travel.

You can check your child’s attendance and punctuality through the Schoolpoint portal and app.
