Year 9 flash mob
On Monday 1 December, our year 9 dancers surprised other learners with a flash mob on the field during interval!
Rolleston Christmas parade and market: Sunday 7 December
We have a number of Rolleston College learners performing and taking part in the Christmas parade this weekend, which kicks off at 1:30pm – it would be great to see you there!
The market is from 10am to 4pm; an opportunity for you to pick up some locally sourced Christmas gifts.
Tennyson Street will be closed to traffic from the Byron Street roundabout from 10am.
From our arts director: The power of process
As the year comes to a close, the arts department proudly celebrates the exceptional creativity displayed by our learners. From the vibrant NCEA portfolio exhibitions and the powerful, award winning Sonder dance performance at ShowQuest to the stunning school production of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, and achievements at The Big Sing and Shakespeare Festival, Rockquest and Tangata Beats, our students have shone brightly across music, drama, visual art, and dance.
Yet, our celebration extends beyond these remarkable final products. The true success lies in the process – the critical learning journey that takes place behind the scenes.
Our arts department is a crucial space for building essential life skills. Every creation begins with a challenge: a blank page, a difficult chord, or an abstract idea. Our students have learned resilience by persisting through failed drafts and continuous rehearsals. They have honed critical thinking by collaborating on complex projects and refining their vision repeatedly. This ability to iterate, embrace vulnerability, and solve problems creatively is a powerful skill set that will serve them in every pathway they choose.
We are incredibly proud of the artistic growth and perseverance demonstrated by all our students. An enormous thanks to you, our whānau and to our entire community for supporting their vision.
I encourage everyone to keep that creative spark alive this summer.
Meri Kirihimete, and we look forward to a vibrant 2026.
