This week, we gathered to recognise a group of learners who reached the pinnacle of academic achievement in 2025. By earning NZQA Scholarship awards and NCEA Certificate Endorsements, these students proved their ability to think critically, communicate complex ideas, and push well beyond the standard curriculum requirements.

In the spirit of E Tū Tāngata, we recognize that these achievements represent more than just high marks:

• You Have Value: Your Scholarship, Merit, and Excellence endorsements reflect your unique talents and the immense hard work you have invested in yourselves.

• We Succeed Together: We acknowledge the teachers and whānau who supported you; your success strengthens and inspires our entire community.

• Others Matter: We challenge you to use the expertise you have gained to uplift and empower those around you.

New Zealand Scholarship recipients

In 2025, five of our learners achieved scholarships in their end-of-year exams. As a prestigious national award, the New Zealand Scholarship is designed by NZQA to challenge the top 3% of students nationwide.

Success in these exams requires more than just subject knowledge; it demands an extraordinary ability to synthesize information and perform under pressure. It is an assessment not just of what a student knows, but of how they think.

A launchpad for the future

Our Tumuaki, Mrs. Skelton, issued a wero (challenge) to these learners for the year ahead:

“Do not let this be the peak. Let it be the launch.”

We are incredibly proud of our learners' dedication and look forward to building on this academic momentum throughout 2026.
