School Sport Canterbury cross country championships

Congratulations to our runners who competed at the Canterbury secondary schools cross country on Thursday 4 June!

Matthew Drury finished a gutsy fourth in the year 9 boys' race, while Jeffrey Li, and Ben McVie also raced well.

Elodie Wightman, ever the performer, was third in the junior girls' race – in a field of 51 girls!

Luke Angland was seventh as a young senior, Ciaran Harris fifteenth, and Jarrod Harris also raced in the senior boys' race.

Some of these athletes will take on the country's best at the upcoming NZSS championships at Trentham in Upper Hutt, on Saturday 20 June. We wish them the very best!

We would love to see even more competitors next year, so if cross country sounds like your thing, please contact Kim Vargo, our sports coordinator.
