As we transition into the colder winter months, our focus is on ensuring that all Rolleston College learners remain warm, comfortable, and fully prepared for their daily learning environment. The arrival of cooler weather presents an ideal opportunity to review our winter uniform expectations.

We take great pride in our school identity, and seeing our learners arrive each day in the correct uniform reflects a collective respect for our school community. To assist families in preparing for the frostier mornings ahead, please note the approved winter uniform layers and options detailed below.

Approved winter tops and outerwear

Learners have several approved options to keep warm. The following official Rolleston College items may be worn:

• Knitted jersey and knit vest
• Fleece jacket
• Softshell jacket
• College blazer

Please note that non-uniform layers – including casual hoodies, branded sweatshirts, and non-regulation jackets – are not permitted. For learners requiring additional insulation, plain black or navy thermal long-sleeve tops may be worn discreetly underneath the regulation school shirt or polo.

Regulation navy trousers

For learners who prefer full-length coverage during the winter season, approved regulation navy trousers are available. We kindly remind families that casual garments such as trackpants, jeans, or leggings do not form part of the college dress code and should not be worn to school.

Tights and stockings

Learners who wear the school skirt or kilt can ensure extra warmth by pairing it with plain black or navy tights.

Footwear expectations

Regular uniform standards continue to apply throughout the winter terms. Learners are expected to wear appropriate closed-toe black shoes paired with plain black or navy socks. From 2027, learners wearing other shoes will receive a uniform breach.
