Course selection for current year 10, 11 and 12 learners opened on Wednesday 12 August 2026, and will close at 5pm on Friday 28 August.

It is very important that learners and whānau read the course descriptions carefully and ensure they are picking courses that best suit their needs.

Q: My child doesn’t know what they want to do as a career – how do we know what to select for year 11?

A: We recommend learners choose courses they enjoy as they are more likely to be successful but to also keep their options wide so they have choices moving in year 12.

Q: My child knows what they want to do, but isn’t sure if there are required courses they need to take at each year level.

A: Our CareerWise website has great information about this so head there to look at the university guides.  You could also chat with our Careers Team at the course information night.

Q:  I still have questions about what is required for NCEA.

A: We have specific slides for each level of NCEA with all the key information which have been shared with learners and whānau.

Q:  How do I know if my child will be offered enough credits to achieve NCEA?

A:  Each of our courses have a minimum number of credits required so this ensures that all learners will be offered the right amount of gain their minimum of 60 credits for the year.

Q:  Why does my child have to put their courses in priority order on SchoolPoint?

A:  This allows our timetable team to see all the courses a learner is interested in. Where there might be a clash with two courses being on at the same time, another course that the learner wants to do can be chosen instead. This is why it’s really important for a learner to choose all of their courses carefully.
