As we move through term three, we are writing to share important information regarding the upcoming round of NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Common Assessment Activities (CAAs) taking place in week 8 (Monday 7 September – Friday 11 September 2026).

The CAA exams are a key milestone in every learner’s NCEA journey, providing the opportunity to satisfy the NCEA Literacy and Numeracy co-requisite requirements. We want to ensure our learners feel supported, well-prepared, and confident going into this assessment week.

Our primary focus for this round is providing another opportunity for our year 10 to 13 learners who still need to secure their Literacy and/or Numeracy co-requisite standards.

Some year 9 learners who have demonstrated through their SMART testing and classroom assessment performance that they are ready to sit these exams will also be invited to participate.

We know assessment periods can sometimes feel overwhelming. Please be reassured that these exams are part of an ongoing learning journey. If a learner does not achieve a standard in September, or is not quite ready to sit them yet, there will be two further opportunities in 2027 to complete these requirements.

Regular school timetable

Learners are NOT rostered home during CAA week. When students are not sitting an exam, they will attend their standard timetabled classes as usual.
