Welcoming Week – Te Wiki o Manaaki returns from 4–13 September 2026.

This year’s theme, “Together We Belong”, reflects the idea that belonging grows when newcomers and established residents connect, share experiences, learn from one another and participate in community life. Welcoming Week aims to bring people together to connect, learn and celebrate our city’s many cultures, while strengthening the sense that everyone in Ōtautahi Christchurch is welcomed, valued and able to participate.

This year’s programme will feature 30 events across the city, including cultural experiences, community gatherings, practical information sessions, workshops, family activities and performances.
