Horoeka Haemata has a proud, if short, history of competing at Tūhono, the kapa haka festival for auraki (non-kaupapa Māori) schools.

We continue to go from strength to strength, and our performance on Sunday 20 September 2026 was nothing short of mesmerising.

Led by Katene Huriwai-Lavea, Cayelyn-Jewel Bratton, and Neo Carter, the rōpū performed the classic E Papa by The Herbs, Āue Rā, Rūketekete te Mamae, followed by a new reimagining of our school haka, Horoeka Haemata. Our waiata whakamutunga was Tiaho Mai Rā.

Ka nui te mihi to all our whānau, kaiako and other kaimahi, along with our tutors, Matua Timmy and Hākui Sharlene Pirikahu. We simply could not get on stage without the work of this village!
