2026 haka competition

Our annual school haka competition was held this morning (Friday 25 September 2026), an incredible way to cap off term three!

As always, all four whānau brought their incredible energy and mana on the day, and judging was incredibly difficult for our panel of Ms Ralph, Mrs Skelton, and Matua Timmy Pirikahu.

Judging criteria is based on te ihi: the positive energy within that is ignited by what is seen, heard, and felt; te wehi: the emotional reaction that acknowledges ihi; me te wana: the collection of energy that unites and connects people to the environment and people to kaupapa.

Our fourth-placed whānau was the green machine: Kōanga.

In third place, the avalanche: Hōtoke.

Our runner-up whānau was the wolfpack: Ngahuru.

In first place, our 2026 champion was mighty RAUMATI!

We were incredibly moved by the haka presented by each whānau and we were so impressed by the innovation and ownership in each case.

Ka nui te mihi to all our learners for bringing your Rolleston Spirit on the day!
