2026 derived grade examinations

All derived grade examinations take place at Te Kura Tuarua, our senior campus at 700 Selwyn Road (access from Eileen Way).

Watch our reel to learn the key locations for your exams.

Please note that it is compulsory to attend your exams.

Learners need to check the timetable carefully, as some subjects which are fully internal have also been allocated an 'exam time'. Learners are required to come in and work on their internal assessment at that time.

You can use "Ctrl + F" and search for your subject codes.

Looking for tutorials? Check out the timetable here – it's being updated all the time.

Study leave

During this period (Friday 11 September to Friday 18 September 2026), all senior learners will be on ‘study leave’ and timetabled classes will not be running. Learners are required onsite for their exam; outside of their exams, they may study from home.

Studying at home between exams is essential to ensure learners are well prepared for their examinations.

During the study leave period, learners should not be on school grounds unless they are sitting an exam.

Absence from exam

Learners who are unable to attend an exam due to illness need to ensure they have reported their absence via the normal method by 8:30am on the day of the absence:

Exam times

Morning exams: 9am to 12pm

Afternoon exams: 12:30pm to 3:30pm

Exam procedures

  • Learners must be in correct school uniform.

  • Learners must arrive at the courts, least 20 minutes before the exam starts. If it is raining, learners should meet on the ground floor of the science and technology building.

  • Learners with special assessment conditions should arrive 30 minutes before the exam starts, and meet at the bottom of the science and technology building.

  • Learners cannot enter after the first 30 minutes.

  • Learners cannot leave in the first 45 minutes or the last 15 minutes of the exam, even to use the bathroom.

  • It is expected that all questions will be attempted.

  • Equipment needed for the exams (pens, ruler, calculator, etc.) must be brought into the exam room in a clear plastic bag. Water must be in a transparent drink bottle. Any other bags must be left at the front of the room.

Note: The use of mobile phones, electronic devices/smart watches are not permitted in an examination room.
