NZSS athletics: 5–7 December 2025

Rolleston College Horoeka Haemata sent eight athletes to compete at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Track, Field and Road Race Championhips in Hastings from 5 to 7 December 2025.

Luke Angland: junior boys' 1500m, 3000m
Eli Craig: senior boys' high jump, long jump
Kyle Endicott-Davies: junior boys' para discus throw, javelin throw, shot put
Taylan Endicott-Davies: senior boys' shot put, hammer throw
Zoe Hooper: junior girls' 100m, 200m
Judah Lodoviko: junior boys' 400m
Arabelle Wightman: junior girls' shot put
Elodie Wightman: junior girls' 800m

With temperatures soaring into the 30s over all three days of competition, we were thrilled to see some great performances from the athletes, with lots of personal bests, and four medalstwo silvers and two bronzes, courtesy of Luke (3000m), Kyle (shot put), Judah (400m) and Elodie (800m).

Special congratulations to Kyle, whose best marks in shot put (4.83m) and discus throw (13.28m) broke the New Zealand secondary schools records for the F44 sport class!

Judah Lodoviko: silver in junior boys' 400m (51.13s, a stunning new personal best)

Luke Angland: silver in junior boys' 3000m (9:01.14s, just 0.04s behind Kona Kelly)

Elodie Wightman: bronze in junior girls' 800m (2:15.91, an excellent personal best)

Huge thank you to parents and whānau of our athletes – without your tireless support, our rangatahi could not perform at their best at these events! We know it's a huge job to support young athletes.

Thank you to our team sponsor, Novus Glass!

We wish all the best to our track and field competitors as they head into the summer season – see you all at South Island championships (28–29 March 2026, Ngā Puna Wai).
